Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province held an important working meeting on March 21 on big data development in 2021, when a review of work conducted last year and a series of measures for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) was outlined to top Guiyang municipal officials.
Big data in the region has reportedly achieved excellent results since the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).
Several national pilot demonstration projects – including big data industrial clusters, technology innovation experimental zones, network security demonstration zones, information consumption demonstration zones and a China southern data center demonstration base – have all settled down in Guiyang and in the Guian New Area.
To top it off, internet giants like Apple, Dell, Huawei, Tencent, JD and Inspur have made their homes there one after another.
Big data has provided high-quality development in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic before.
Guiyang reportedly believes it needs to seize the opportunities presenting themselves to advance its digital economy and big data. In addition, big-data-oriented industries, applications, laws and regulations – as well as security – are said to be well in place for its development to a high standard.
Holding the annual Big Data Expo and establishing three high-quality industrial clusters with an investment at least 100 billion yuan ($15.29 billion) will reportedly help accelerate the pace of local development in Guiyang.
Moving forwards, Guiyang is reportedly in the right place to highlight industry orientation and foster new developmental momentum for the digital economy. In terms of its application, systems for improving the administration of government and services for the livelihoods of its residents are expected to enjoy wide usage soon afterwards.
When it comes to innovation in the field of big data, Guiyang and the Guian New Area will aim to stride ahead to boost innovation in the process of development, theory and independent technology which follows the construction of support infrastructure.
Relying on big data, Guiyang is said to be making every effort to transform itself into a national big data demonstration city and to lead Guizhou in the push for new development.
