Shubo Avenue Digital Twin City project passes expert review in Beijing

The top-level design for Shubo Avenue Digital Twin City, an important project in Guiyang, passed a review by a panel of experts in Beijing on Jan 4, according to local officials.

A digital twin city is a virtual city in the digital network space that matches a real city. We can say that such a city is a model of the existing city and can be used as a better way to analyze the city for its future construction.

Located in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province, Shubo (big data expo) Avenue is built to attract top international big data sectors and showcase the city's latest big data achievements. According to the top-level design, the total length and area of the Shubo Avenue Digital Twin City are about 20 kilometers and 100 square kilometers.

The top-level design comprehensively expounds the vision, goals, main tasks, overall structure and key projects of the digital twin city construction, according to the China Information Consulting and Designing Institute Co, the company drafting the project.

The review meeting was organized by the Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Big Data Development and Management. Five authoritative experts with strong academic reputations and achievements in scientific research were invited to conduct the review.

Guo Renzhong, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that the top-level design will play an important role in guiding the construction of the digital twin city.

By focusing on the development of a national big data comprehensive trial zone and China's Data Valley, Guiyang has been increasing its efforts to strengthen its digital economy and develop big data into a strong engine to propel its high-quality social development. The project is a new attempt by Guiyang to explore the construction of a smart city, officials said.
