Big data helps epidemic prevention, work return in Guiyang

The Guiyang municipal bureau of big data development has provided vital communications support, data collection and message distributions -- to help novel coronavirus prevention and control and ensure businesses and staff get back to work -- according to local officials.

The bureau has actively coordinated with related enterprises, to set up the communications infrastructure construction at the Jiangjunshan section of the Guiyang public health center for coronavirus treatment.

Officials said that to date, the communications base station for emergency support of the hospital has been successfully completed, providing guaranteed information services.

The bureau has also guided communications operators in Guiyang to strengthen their data collection and epidemic monitoring.

Officials said that has helped the local government predict the spread tendency of the virus and roll out targeted measures to prevent its further outbreak.

In addition, it is coordinating with communications operators to send messages about epidemic prevention and control. As of Feb 25, a total 70.34 million messages had been sent to the public.

In terms of epidemic control, officials said the bureau has maintained operations of the communication network for 4,586 communities and key units, such as hospitals and centers for disease control.

It has also optimized and improved the network quality, to meet the needs of residents and enterprises.

As for the resumption of work and production, the bureau has strengthened the management of body temperature checks, regular disinfections and information registration.

To date, 80 communications service halls in Guiyang have been running at normal operation levels, with a return-to-work rate of 100 percent.
