The construction of smart buildings along Shubo (Big Data Expo) Avenue in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province will start, according to a guideline released recently by the Guiyang municipal bureau of housing and urban rural development and the Guiyang municipal bureau of big data development and management.

Officials said that the first batch of pilot projects will be constructed along the 20 kilometer-long avenue to lead the city's development of smart buildings.

A variety of advanced technologies, including 5G, artificial intelligence, building information models, big data, embedded SIM cards, and the internet of things, will be applied in the construction of smart buildings.

The guideline will play an important role in the construction of smart buildings and is applicable to three types of buildings, including comprehensive offices, medium and large sized hotels, as well as large stores.

According to the guideline, smart buildings should meet the basic requirements for smart integration, information application, information facilities, equipment and facility management, as well as public security.

In addition, qualified smart buildings need to establish building information models and be evaluated as green or sustainable buildings that don't have negative impacts on the environment.
