Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province is committed to becoming the country's largest data center cluster that is secure, green and intensive. Seven major global companies – including Huawei, Tencent, Apple and Foxconn – have established data centers in the area.

China Mobile's data center is currently being built and has a construction area of 190,000 square meters. The company is the first communication operator to take up residence in the area, and the development of its data center has been divided into three phases.

The first phase of the project, which has been completed and put into use, can host 18,000 servers with a storage capacity of 189,000 TB.

Guian's Tencent data center is the leading facility of its kind in the country. The center covers an area of 470,000 square meters and is known for its security, stability, innovation and energy-saving devices. According to the project plan, the data center can store 300,000 servers in the future.

Data shows that the revenue of Guian's software and information technology service industry reached 2.53 billion yuan ($372.73 million) in the first half of this year, a year-on-year growth of 37.89 percent. Meanwhile, e-commerce transactions reached 8.012 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 25.75 percent.

The area will spare no effort to guarantee the construction of a big data hub and improve its aggregation capacity.

According to the plan, Guian New Area will become a hub for 12 mega data centers and 4 million servers with a fixed-asset investment of over 40 billion yuan by 2025.
