The global communications campaign for the 2020 China International Big Data Industry Expo closed on Oct 12 in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The campaign was launched by the expo's organizing committee on May 26 -- despite the suspension of the annual event due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The campaign organized 16 media outlets and attracted more than 2,000 media outlets and websites at home and abroad, to form a cross-media communications platform with a single theme and logo.

The campaign focused on four major subjects to showcase the Big Data Expo's achievements during the past five years, as well as to spread big data industry information and promote innovation in the big data industry.

A total of 78 online and offline activities were undertaken during the campaign, including 52 expo press releases, eight expo dialogues and four expo salons -- attracting 813,300 professional visitors.

A series of major industrial projects were signed during the campaign.

Investment institutions participating in the campaign committed to investing more than 300 million yuan ($44.6 million) in 10 Guizhou-based big data enterprises. The campaign's online trade fair achieved a transaction volume of 1.17 billion yuan.
