Southwest China's Guizhou province held an investment promotion event in Shanghai on Dec 24, as part of its efforts to further expand its big data industry and shore up high-quality development.

Hosted by the Guizhou Big Data Development Administration and Guizhou Investment Promotion Bureau, the event attracted representatives from 75 big data enterprises. Nine project contracts with a total value of 11.4 billion yuan ($1.75 billion) were signed at the event, involving big data, cloud computing, the internet of things, artificial intelligence, network security and innovation incubation.

Officials from the province's big data bureau promoted Guizhou's big data industry, development advantages, investment environment and supporting policies during the event. Meanwhile, representatives from big data companies gave speeches on their product advantages, core technologies and investment intentions.

Guizhou is China's first national big data comprehensive experimental zone and develops big data into a strong engine to propel its high-quality economic and social development. The province's digital economy growth has ranked first in China for five consecutive years.

The province will deepen communication and cooperation with big data enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region to further promote its development of the big data industry.
