Guiyang city and Guian New Area - in Southwest China's Guizhou province - will promote the province's core competitiveness in the digital economy through the establishment of three industrial clusters, according to officials speaking at a news conference on Jan 14.

The three industrial clusters - each with an output value of more than 100 billion yuan ($15.43 billion) - involve data center clusters, electronic information manufacturing, as well as software and information technology services.

Guian plans to build more than 14 large data centers during the 14th Five Year Plan period (2021-2025). It is estimated that with the completion of these data centers, at least 1 million servers will start operating per year, with annual sales revenue of more than 50 billion yuan.

Guiyang and Guian will give priority to the cultivation of leading electronic information manufacturing enterprises - including Zhenhua Group, Guiyang Hisense and Guizhou Inspur - to expand the manufacturing industry for servers, screens, sensors and semiconductor materials.

In addition, Guiyang and Guian will focus on the construction of an industry ecosystem to maximize the overall benefit of the software and information technology services industry. It is expected that an increasing number of enterprises engaged in cloud services, big data security and data bases will be attracted to support the development of the software and information technology services industry cluster.
