The province of Guizhou and its capital city of Guiyang – situated in Southwest China – have been praised in a national report for the development of their digital ecosystems.

In a recent report on China's digital ecosystem development in 2021, which was released by Peking University's big data analysis and applied technology lab, Guizhou province was rated as the second highest grade of the survey.

In addition, provincial capital Guiyang was rated as a city with dynamic digital ecosystem development that is being driven by infrastructure.

The report evaluated China's 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities and more than 300 cities for their digital infrastructure, digital capabilities and digital applications.

In recent years, Guizhou has reportedly established a national big data comprehensive pilot area and achieved progress in its digital industrialization, industry digitization, digital governance and data values.

Statistics showed that Guizhou's digital economy growth rate has ranked nationally first for six years in a row.

Plans are for the province to apply big data in the new model of industrialization, urbanization, agricultural modernization and tourism industrialization, as well as to optimize its digital ecosystem.
