Guiyang, Guian power up to expand digital industrialization

During the first half of the year, the digital economies of Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area – both located in Southwest China's Guizhou province – enjoyed rapid expansion.

From January to June, their combined business software income surged to 31.85 billion yuan ($4.7 billion). This represented a year-on-year increase of 111.7 percent and accounted for 95.1 percent of the province's total.

Over the same period, Guiyang and Guian's 139 companies above a designated size – those with annual sales of 20 million yuan or more – achieved 29.21 billion yuan in business revenue, a leap of 132.8 percent year-on-year.

The total output value of the electronics information manufacturing industry reached 19.29 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 22.2 percent. The business revenue of telecommunications services there was 4.6 billion yuan, up 10.2 percent year-on-year.

In the first six months, the number of Guiyang and Guian business entities operating in big data increased by 317, reaching 5,502. Of these, 27 companies were recognized as leading municipal big data businesses. Meanwhile, 22 big data companies were prepared for a stock market listing, while 20 software service companies were listed as provincial specialized, innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, among other things.

Furthermore, Guiyang and Guian attracted 128 digital economy projects – accounting for 80 percent of the annual target – and signed investment contracts worth 2.47 billion yuan, which was 54.8 percent of the annual goal.

In the second half of the year, Guiyang and Guian will focus on the cloud services industry, information technology innovation sector and data element circulation industry. Plans are for the two to develop basic software, industrial software, embedded software, application software and software for emerging platforms.

Guiyang and Guian will also innovate their investment promotion strategies to allow industrial associations, foundations and major companies to attract investment and create more application scenarios for big data.
