Building starts at Guizhou hub of national computing network

Building recently started at the planned Guizhou hub center for the national integrated computing power network – to be located in the Guian New Area, in Southwest China's Guizhou province – according to the developer, Guian New Area Industrial Development Holding Group Co.

The first stage is expected to power up and start operations in the first quarter of 2023 and the entire project is expected to be completed by Dec 31, 2026.

Guizhou was approved as one of the eight major hubs of the national integrated computing power network in May last year. The local hub center has been allocated a total investment of about 1 billion yuan ($139.84 million).

It will be based on the existing data center clusters in the Guian New Area, in order to build one computing power operation and scheduling center and one main computing power base.

The computing power operation and scheduling center is expected to provide a demonstration model for computing power operations and scheduling. Moreover, on completion, it will work with Guian's data center cluster to support China's Eastern Data and Western Computing project.

The main computing power base will have general computing power, intelligent computing power and super computing power. It will be equipped with 2,544 servers and have a total computing power of 274 petahash, and the total distributed storage will reach 45 petahash.

The base will also support domestic operating systems and more than 60 percent of its software and hardware are domestic-sourced.

The project is projected to promote trans-level, trans-region and trans-system network interconnections and data applications. It aims to establish a multi-level computing power facility and system – and become a safe, high-performance, intelligent, green and low delay computing power base serving the entire country.
