Guiyang Big Data Sci-tech Innovation City – located in the Guian New Area, in Southwest China's Guizhou province – last year attracted investments from 405 companies, hitting its annual target, officials said on Dec 15.
During the year, Guian released a raft of support policies and measures to regulate the processes of investment attraction. It also issued investment promotion brochures and videos to raise its profile and increase the popularity of the innovation city.
One of the companies attracted by the marketing drive is Western Energy Electric Co, a company focusing on intelligent integration services, big data services and software application services. A spokesman said that the company is optimistic about the innovation city's future as an industrial cluster and it started operations there in August.
The innovation city is close to the Guian High-speed Railway Station and Metro Line G1, and is located in Guian's core area.
That position has particularly attracted companies like Guizhou Ruizhi Big Data Co. Spokesperson Long Yingjie said the innovation city had distinct competitive advantages in terms of transport, public services and support policies, which would bring more opportunities for businesses based there.
Under the plan, the innovation city aims to attract 3,000 big data and big data related companies by 2025 and achieve 50 billion yuan ($7.26 billion) in total annual revenue, excluding Huawei Cloud.
It also expects to attract 100 sci-tech and public service platforms by that year and employ 100,000 people related to the software industry.
In addition to successfully attracting investment, the construction of apartments, commercial complexes, offices, schools and other facilities in the innovation city is currently underway.
