Guizhou's big data investment sees steady growth

Over the first five months of this year, Guizhou province in Southwest China recorded 12.03 billion yuan ($1.68 billion) of investment in the big data area, a year-on-year increase of 57.91 percent, accounting for 54.66 percent of its annual target.

The investment proportions in information infrastructure, industrial digitalization, and digital industrialization came in at 39.73 percent, 37.58 percent, and 22.69 percent, respectively.

Between January and May this year, Guizhou erected 11,840 new 5G base stations, bringing the total number of completed 5G base stations to 96,500. The internet's cumulative outbound bandwidth has reached 42,200 Gbps. Additionally, 1,969,000 kilometers (1,223,480 miles) of new optical cables have been added, resulting in a total of 1,829,000 km of communication optical cables.

Since the beginning of this year, Guizhou has seen numerous highlights in the construction of 5G application scenarios. The 5G+ digital low-carbon industrial park project in the Shuicheng Economic and Development Zone of Liupanshui city has led and driven the significant improvement of local industrial resource utilization technologies, promoting substantially industrial solid waste reduction.
