During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, Guiyang has created a seamless transportation network, propelling the city's growth.

Rail transit forms a comprehensive network

On April 28, 2021, Guiyang Metro Line 2 was fully opened, marking the city's entry into the era of metro transfers.

This was followed on Dec 16, 2023, by the opening of Metro Line 3, which became the longest, busiest, fastest, and smartest line in the system.

On Dec 28, 2024, Guiyang Urban Rail Transit Line S1 began operation, linking Gui'an New Area with the main urban area of Guiyang.

Railway expansion connects destinations near and far

The Guiyang Loop Line Railway, launched on March 30, 2022, was China's first municipal loop line, greatly facilitating daily commutes and promoting green transit.

On Aug 31, 2023, the Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway was fully operational, cutting travel time between Guiyang and Nanning to within three hours and enhancing interprovincial connectivity.

Buses serve people's livelihoods

The No 252 Bus special for farmers started service on June 1, 2024, helping local growers easily transport fresh produce to the city.

So far, 38 such routes have carried over 345,000 passengers and delivered 1,249.6 metric tons of agricultural products.

In October 2024, the No 217 Bus special for urban builders was launched, offering flexible schedules tailored to construction workers and connecting worksites, dormitories, and transit hubs.

Expressways weave a multi-dimensional transportation web

The Guiyang-Huangping Expressway opened on May 31, 2022, making travel from Guiyang to the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone much more convenient. Its extension, which opened on March 21, 2025, now serves as the fastest eastern corridor in and out of the city.

The Guiyang-Jinsha Expressway, launched on Nov 24, 2023, shortened the journey between the two cities by 65 kilometers, reducing travel time to only one hour.

Aviation builds a gateway to blue yonder

In December 2021, Terminal 3 of Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport opened its doors. With a total floor area of over 167,000 square meters, it is able to serve 30 million passengers annually.
