An innovation platform in Guizhou province is helping AI startups turn their technologies into commercial applications by connecting them with local businesses, offering affordable office space and providing access to subsidized computing resources.

Known as the Model Data Innovation Foundry, the platform draws on Guizhou's big data infrastructure to help AI developers in eastern China identify potential customers and develop solutions for local industries.

To support AI enterprises, the foundry has rolled out a package of targeted incentives, including office rent as low as 18 yuan ($2.7) per square meter per month, just one-third of the going rate for similar spaces nearby.

By integrating policy resources from the provincial, municipal, and Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone levels, resident companies receive a 30 percent subsidy on computing power, with token invocation costs slashed by up to 60 percent.

Additionally, "model data vouchers" issued by the foundry's public service platform can be used to offset expenses for computing power and model services, backed by tailored financial products such as tech loans, talent loans, and IP-pledge financing.

By offering a low-cost startup environment, a full-lifecycle service system, and precise demand-supply matching, the Model Data Innovation Foundry solves the most practical pain points for early-stage AI teams.
